RCD510 phone set up

Got a RCD510 DAB for christmas but when i press the phone button, it mutes the radio.
I know i may need to add something to enable the phone feature, but what..

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is the "9w7" bluetooth module that can enable this, otherwise it's limited to just muting as the bluetooth functionality comes from the bury unit.

ok, and if I get that 9W7 module, that will allow me to pair up my phone and receive calls through the radio? or just bluetooth audio?

I think the 9w7 unit replaces the Bury unit, and instead all control of the phone is through the headunit, and MFSW/Highline cluster if fitted. I think it'll do both music streaming and calls, not sure if you can do any kind of voice control with just the RCD510 though.

What about the mic? Is it built in or do you need that fitting as well as for the bluetooth module for rcd510.

I think most 9w7 units on eBay come with a mic. I think there's a slot for it up above by the dome light?

Only ones on ebay are from China - i dont trust anything from China.

Alot of the china stuff is genuine made by Shanghai Volkswagen - VWs chinese subsidiary

Its as good quality as the EU stuff, just has a chinese adjusted part number generally.

Yeah and you can get Chinese market RCD 510s too of eBay very cheap. Manufactured by Delphi for Volkswagen
