Please Help

Post by wul3er »

Could someone please answer my questions and give me some help and tips if possible.

1- How do you remove the bump strips on the side, front and back. And is it a hard job to do without damaging or breaking anything.

2- Same as above but only this time its for the 3 grills that are located at the bottom of the front bumper.

3- Same again (lol) but this time for the splitter. I think i heard that this was hard to remove.

Any help, hints and tips are all welcomed.

The splitter is essentially a complete b*strd to remove, though technically it's very easy. It helps if you can jack the car up to get completely under the front end.

Firstly where the splitter curves round and meets the wheel arch there should be a screw holding the splitter on. Undo them on both sides.

Then the fun part :D Basically where the splitter meets the bumper on the inside, there is a series of clips that the splitter slots into. You have to open these up with a screwdriver. Its easier to start from one end and work round. Once you get the first couple off it gets easier, but just be prepared to get frustrated!

Its a pain in the arse to do, and its a lot easier to do with two people.

the three grilles at bottom can be un-done simply using a philips screwdriver, then they just slot out

Alright Wulber :D

The front two pannels come off easy with removing the two philps screws. Allowing you to get to the towin eye !

Y do you want them off ? Think of colour coding them - Anyone done this ?

The longer middle one, im not sure, last time i checked there wasnt any screws - how does this one come out ? Is it a case of poping it out ?

While im here, any one fitted a GTI spoiler before ?
