Polo First car

Post by wellbeloved747 »

After much deliberation i have decided that my first car should be a Polo as they are pretty much the best and most respectable first car, i have decided that i would like the Face lift model what i believe to 9N3.
I am searching the web for one in budget and will go out an look in the next week or so as i am looking to pick it up in the next month or so.

what advice would you guys give when looking on the web and then looking at one in person?

obviously being 17 i want to "improve" my car, i won't go crazy and lower it and make it all performance as it will only be a 1.2 and as a first car that i will never get the investment back from.
I just want to make it look slight youth on a £500-£600 budget.
my idea is to remove the VW badges and spray them black (Oh yea my polo must be black) remove the polo badge and the 1.2 badge.
tint the back window fairly dark and the front windows and back window slightly lighter, leaving the front window untinted. also i may tint the rear headlights.
i will then get the alloys reconditioned in grey after a few months (as i will be new im bound to scuff them so ill be throwing away money to do it now)
Next comes the radio, thinking of a Kenwood double din, with a full Fli or Edge sound system and about at 12 inch sub.

and finally i have an idea to purchase these and fit hem in a single line across the bottom of each headlight.

Thats sort of what im aiming for, obviously its a first car and all and i want it all pimped (being 17) but i don't want to go crazy and ruin the car or waste money!
any advice on my ideas would be fantastic or any general advice about the car or even driving :D

Thanks

Matthew

First of all, how much cash do you have available for purchasing the car?

The 1.2 is in group four insurance and my guess is that will cost £2-3,000.

The MK8 1.2 Polo is more fun to drive than you'd think, given the small engine. Also it's very well equipped, and well made.
Prices start at around £6,000 for good ones, in my opinion the three door looks better.
In black the car looks pretty good as standard, particularly if it has the front foglamps in the lower grille.

Hi,
I've got myself a 1.4 Black Polo 9n3 and started modding it... Same sort of stuff as you.. Debadge was a b***h but got it done eventually, rear badge and front badge are black and I've just had the rear windows tinted 4%.
It costs me £600 on insurance, I've been driving 3 years now, but it's a great little first car :)
I've got a feed so check it out if you're interested in OEM/subtle mods on a 9n3 :)
