DRL not working on one side?

I picked up my VW Polo 1.2 TDI Blue Motion in early April - I do not recollect the DRL lights working on both sides ever since - presumably they should? Yesterday I noticed that only one side of the reverse lighting lit up as well.

Appears the same side lights are not functioning for DRL or reverse - this can't be by design surely?

Any thoughts? Been through the handbook and cannot see anything in relation?

I'd say a visit to the dealers is in order given you only got the car last month
