2010 Polo GTI - ODB2 reader?

Hi All

My first post in the forum so please be gentle with me, I have searched to try to find an answer

I have just got a 2010 Polo GTI which I am loving!

I wanted to get a ODB2 reader for it, and so far I am struggling to find one that works, they all connect to the port, power up but all say Link Error when trying to read any of the systems.

I have tried the following readers, can someone please point me in the right direction to get one that works, or am I stuck with needing a laptop?

It's gotta be fully can compatible. I've never seen one of these that works properly. The only sure way is a proper VCDS cable

Oh well worth a try I guess, will look at getting a cable and see if any software works on a macbook....slim chance I guess lol

No chance. You need to either bootcamp or run fusion/parallels with a windows install

Yeah I run parallels but also think somewhere I've got an old windows laptop so reckon that might have to come out for this use.

Any recommendations on specific cable or are most of the amazon ones fine

You'll need a CAN one which really only a genuine VCDS one from Gendan will do the job, though some of the others will do CAN as they are hacked To work with a specific version
