Gearbox stiff and clunky on VW Polo 1.2tsi ?

Hey guys
Ive just purchased a 2011 1.2tsi Polo thats only done 5000 miles (I'm the second owner) and I wonder if theres an issue with the gearbox.
I know that these dont have as shorter shift as you'd imagine they'd have, but its feels very stiff and clunky when changing through gears.
Any thoughts? Are they all like this?

I have a BlueGT that's now covered 7000 miles and changing down to 2nd it is still stiff, I raised this with VW and they said that they generally wouldn't look at it until 10000 miles as it takes that long to loosen up, I'm not entirely convinced seeing as 2nd gear is used a lot where as 6th that is used a lot less it just slips in and out easily. I'll be keeping my eye on it.

Totally with you there on 1st to 2nd and 5th to 6th, I think we have the same gear box type don't we anyway?
I wonder where I stand being the second owner of a VW Polo thats only done 5k miles with regards to VW warranty (I didnt buy it 2nd hand from from VW) ?

I had a Renault Kangoo Van fitted with a 1.2 petrol engine.
The gearbox on that took 20,000 miles to loosen up, before that it was obstructive and notchy.

Having said that, the one on our Polo 1.2 is beautiful and the car has done only 12,000.
