Hi,
Please be gentle ... I'm a car n00b !
I have a problem with my 58 plate VW Polo 1.4 Diesel..
Here's a history of what's happened in the last 3 weeks or so...
1. DPF light comes on (nothing new... normally a spin down the dual carriageway gets rid of it as I do a lot of shortish, 10mile journeys normally)
2. Despite numerous spins on the dual carriageway the DPF light stays on.
3. Approx 2-3 days later the glow plug light starts flashing in addition to the DPF light being on (solidly) - the glow plug light doesn't come on straightway, only after about 5-10 mins driving.
4. Couple of days after this the exhaust system light comes on and stays on - so I now have a solid DPF light, a solid exhaust system light and a flashing glow plug light...
5. Car to garage -> he checks DPF as the 'code' confirms this is the issue - he can't see anything wrong with the DPF but 'cleans' it and does a recharge (??) - turns engine back on and DPF light comes back on straightaway...
6. Car back to me to run around in for a few days to see if light goes off...
7. 1 week later after quite a few spins down the dual carriageway and some 40-50 mile journeys... lights still on as before i.e. solid DPF, flashing glow plug, solid exhaust system (although the last one occassionally goes off briefly)
8. current situation - as before but now glow plug light flashes as soon as you turn the engine on ...
the garage not too keen on changing the DPF as apparently it's over £600 ! and if it turns out not to be this its an awful waste of money... too right !!
any experience of similar anyone - any advice as to what is causing this?
many thanks
VW Polo DPF problem...
Re: VW Polo DPF problem...
sorry, forgot to say... it's a Polo Bluemotion 1 - 58 plate 1.4 Diesel
Just read another post that says changing the pressure sensor might do the trick - what do you thin?
