Handbrake Cover Cap

Post by Kev63 »

Has anyone tried removing a Handbrake Cover Cap and then putting it back together? For anyone that doesn't know, this is the part I'm talking about:

For the life of me, I can't get it to sit flush again. It just pops back out at the back (skinny part under handbrake). Anyone got any ideas / help?

Kind regards,

Ive had it out a few times - its a very fragile part. You may need to heat it with a hair dryer and straigten it out again

A little double sided foam tape on the tabs can help too

You think i've bent it somewhere, hence it's popping out?

I yanked it out from under the handbrake, where I Could get my finger under it. That's the same place that pops out of place. At the same time though, the round part, the base of that doesn't seem to sit flush either. It's only the top of the round part that looks right.

Annoying to say the least. Only reason I removed it was for 50p.... haha

Yeah quite possible - its quite soft plastic, and easy to bend out of shape, even if its only slight it wont sit properly.

Oh god, useless with stuff like this. I will inspect it later and see if I can notice any noteable bends I could fix.

IS there anywhere I could buy another should I not be able to fix? I scoured the internet and the closest I could find to a part was that link with instructions, no supplier though.

Take the part to your local VW dealer and they can order you a replacement
