Hi guys and girls.
I'm after some advise from you. Please note this is not a for sale post.
My father in law has a 62 plate Polo 1.4 TSi in White. It has a few upgrades and very low mileage. Anyway, he had lung cancer last year and went into hospital to have a lung removed. While he was recovering in hospital he suffered quite a severe stroke. This now means he is unable to drive and needs to sell the car.
Now he has asked me to do some research and I'm coming up blank. I don't know a great deal about vws if I'm being honest.
If I lost a few things I do know could anyone let me know a rough estimate on a private sale I'd be very grateful.
So the car:
62 plate
Manual
White
5 door
1.4 TSi
17" alloy wheel upgrade (boavista?)
It also has some sort of radio ungrade that involves a separate unit that plugs in on the right of the steering wheel. It has MDi in the glovebox too. Not sure about cd changer or anything.
That's all I can remember off the top of my head.
Cheers Matt.
In need of some advice.
Re: In need of some advice.
Sorry about your Farther-in-laws illness.
Now is not a good time to be selling your car (I know, I'm trying to sell one at the moment!) and extras add little, if anything, to the value.
Best places to research prices are Autotrader and Ebay (do an Advanced search and select the 'Completed Listings' to see what they've actually sold at). Also check out Parkers and CAP to see what their valuations come in at.

Re: In need of some advice.
Is this an SEL or a BlueGT? I think all Polos apart from the basic S models got the little Bluetooth thingy by the A-Pillar. The SELs had the Boavista alloys available, which are rather nice 5-spoke alloys. It would be a standard, non-turbo 1.4 or the 1.2 TSI if so. The 1.4 TSIs with manual gearboxs are all BlueGTs.
This is a white Polo SEL with the Boavista wheels.

And this is a white BlueGT:

The BlueGTs are worth a bit more, having a much more powerful engine than either petrol engines available in the SEL.
Sorry to hear about your father in law. Hope he recovers well.
Edit: changed image to something less HUGE!
