How to Install Golf MK4 Rain / Auto rear view mirrors

Hi, not sure if this is the best place for this query but here goes.

I have recently replaced my auto dim rear view mirror with a used part from Ebay, however the new mirror glass appears gold in colour whereas the old one (when working) did not. I have posted a few pictures below;
the first one shows the comparison of the new with the new one fitted and the old one held below;

second pic shows the bubbling on the old one a bit clearer;

and the third pic shows the fluid leak one the old mirror.

I show these pics of the old one just to confirm it is shot.

The question is, should the new mirror be gold in colour, is anyone else's gold?

I once had one that looked gold. Slightly different mirror glass but appeared to work ok. Eventually it failed like your one and the lcd died

Thanks Alex, not too keen on the gold glass if I am honest but hopefully it will stop the glare from behind.
