Photo of Blue GT spare wheel anyone?

Post by TheFrog »

The Blue GT is the only model in the range to get a proper spare wheel as standard.

Could someone please post a picture so I can see what it look like and whether I can maybe fit one of these Pioneer subs in somewhere?

It's the same size as a stock 15" steel wheel. 6X15"

Don't forget there's a moulded round tray that fits in the spare wheel that carries the jack, wheel brace & tools etc, so you would have to find a home for them if ditching the tool tray.

I ditched both wheel, tray and jack when I installed my Helix sub,

Yes, I just came across one in my local dealer. The moulded foam stuff looks a bit big for the amount of tools it has to hold, so I might just keep them in a rag or something in the lower part of the boot with all my other rubbish. This would free up the wheel for the sub.

I would like a larger unit like VW's own sub, but this would mean discarding the spare and sod's law dictates that 2 days after I do this I will get a puncture in the back end of beyond :)

Not sure if the blue gt has a false floor in the boot like the sel 6r but im pretty sure that sub would fit under there, ill try and get a pic of my false floor, its where I have my amp.

That's a good idea. Yes, the BGT does have the false floor. Putting the sub in there would also mean less MDF for the bass to go through... I tried a Kenwood underseat sub in my Transit van a couple of years ago, however, and it wasn't very impressive.
