Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
I had a call of vw CS on Tuesday saying it was on a ship and will dock that day and that I should call my dealership the next day to find out if thay had sorted transport and that it should be 7-10 days until I pick up so I called yesterday and was told they were going to call the docks and get back to me that day (but didn't) called today twice and was told he was busy and left my details for him to call back today, still no call back, going to try again tomorrow so fingers crossed something is sorted haha

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
Hello all. This is only my second post so I hope I'm doing things right! After reading through all the informative stuff on this great site, I've a few questions, please, regarding replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs on my new Polo when I get it. Please forgive my ignorance, but does replacing the existing ones with LEDs in any way affect the warranty? Do I need to advise my insurance company? Also, may I ask:
a) Can all the bulbs be replaced, DRLs, main/dipped and even the no. plate lights?
b) If they can be replaced, what are the best ones to buy for the purest and whitest light? I do a lot of night work for charity and need the best possible illumination. It's very dark now they've switched off most of the motorway lights and I also often need to navigate back country lanes.
c) Can VW supply the bulbs or do I need to go somewhere like Halfords?
d) If I need to get the bulbs from somewhere other than VW, as I am unable to fit them myself will VW happily fit them for me at a cost? If not, Is there some recognised nationwide specialist 'bulb replacement service' company other than Halfords? I live in East Lancashire.
Any information you good people can provide would be very much appreciated. To refresh, I'm waiting on a TSI SE 90 PS in Carmen Red, ordered on 14 November now with a build week 10. Probably be here around the beginning of April I'm guessing. Specs are sat-nav, Cruise & Park pack, tinted windows, Active Cruise Control, Light and Sight, and folding mirrors. (I know, I got a bit carried away ...) Got a good deal tho'. When I get it I'd love to post some pics. No idea yet how to do that but I've (sadly) plenty of time to find out! Kind regards to all from Jerbill.

I'm not sure if it's possible to replace the headlamps with LEDs without fitting whole new light clusters. The LED units fitted to some new cars (including the optional ones on the 6c) require big cooling heat sinks.
I saw a Carmen Red Polo the other day- awesome colour. Not sure why it's not more popular!
Edit: Just thought- might be worth asking the dealer if they could add LED headlamps to your order? Certainly cheaper than retrofiting them.

Re: Anyone currently waiting on a 6C factory order?
Thanks for the response vc-10. I looked into led lights when configuring the car but it seems they can only be fitted as a £900 package, too much for me and most others I would imagine. Hence my pleasure in seeing among the posts some details about simply fitting led bulbs in place of the halogens. I didn't know they needed special cooling though. In my ignorance I believed it was simply a case of '1 out 1 in'. If that can't be done I shall just have to shelve the idea and stick with the yellows. Happy to know someone else likes the Carmen Red! When deciding on the colour I drove around all the dealers in Lancashire till I'd seen every possible option. All except 'Java' that is, but any shade of brown is out for me whatever name they call it. Eventually the red won out pretty much hands down. Each to their own however, if someone is happy withwith 'Java' or anything else, fair enough. I do agree with you tho', I do find it a bit odd that Carmen doesn't seem very popular. The 2 whites seem to be the frontrunners from what I can see. Best regards and thanks again for the kind advice.

Very nice, what's it like to drive?
Re. options, I was surprised to see how much equipment is optional in the UK. Here in France, everything is standard bar the winter pack (heated seats), sunroof, satnav and xenons.

My extras are: Alcantara, mats and the light and sight pack.
Drives well, quite nippy from 2k rpm, not had it flat out yet ofc. Rides fine, noticeably lower and stiffer than the Golf GT that I have been driving, but not as crashy as my 330.
Corners nice and flat, plenty of grip, I expected some eco special tyres but it has Sportmaxx SP as standard fitment. Quiet enough on the motorway too
. Saw 50mpg taking it easy on my commute this morning, and it only took £45 to fill up - much better than the sub 30mpg I'm used to!

That's excellent from a brand new engine. Glad the ride's not too firm, I hate that - can't really see the point in being able to go round roundabouts at 60mphmarkc123 wrote:Saw 50mpg taking it easy on my commute this morning, and it only took £45 to fill up - much better than the sub 30mpg I'm used to!

Well, having been off loaded from the "African Highway" at Sheerness on Saturday, my wife's SE was delivered to the dealer today.
Presumably workshop staff do not work at weekends so PID early next week.
Going to dealer to sign paperwork tomorrow, so no doubt will be advised when we can pick it up, so it's nearly on our driveway !

Never seen a BGT in person. I had to order blind... again. Dealers over here never have the high-end models in stock, only the boring base models that most people want. When I ordered my Mk6 Golf GTI 5 years ago, it was the same story: VW CS told me I would have to go to Paris - a 3 hr drive - if I wanted to see oneMart!n-GTI-DK wrote:Havn't you ever seen a stock Polo before?![]()
