Forge Dump Valve Noise 1.2TSI 6R
Hi
So I understand that some people love dump valves for the noise alone and aren't too bothered with the slight performance gains from the reduction in turbo lag however I'm not a fan of the loud hiss, specially while driving through town or sainsburys car park.
So my question is....is there such a thing as a dump valve silencer / muffler or is there an alternative which gives you the benefit of a dump valve without the sound.
I'm installing the forge dump valve along with the Forge induction kit and at the very minimum a backbox delete and a Celtic Stage 1 remap.
Is this a pointless exercise and am I just getting old and should go and buy a Hyundai i10 for my daily commute !
Thanks

43 ! You old timer....at 42 I'm a mere youngster !
I love a project and I think it gets easier with age or more affordable at the very least.
So back box and remap is all I need then ?

The induction kit made very little noise and been an open cone filter heat soak is an issue, the dump valve was just for the noise but got annoying after a bit, back box delete sounds great and the remap has transformed it, I've got a vid on YouTube of the back box delete made it myself from a standard back box.

Couple of places on ebay selling them but I doubt they have stock.
So how easy was the back box job ? Did you weld the straight thru pipe yourself ?

The cheap dump valves iv seen on ebay aint forge i dont think? just cheaper reps? want to get black pipe and valve to keep it looking OEM under the bonnet. Exhaust isnt a bad idea as there isnt many aftermarket options for the 1.2 tsi

Out of interest is the back box easy to detach or did you cut and re - join.

If you have the original system it needs cutting and a sleeve to join it which makes it easy to swap from one to another.
