DSG Paddles - query

Post by Welshboff »

Hiya,

Quick question for those who got the DSG / Paddles. I've just noticed on the right paddle with the plus symbol to upshift there is also text that says 'off'. Anyone know what this 'off' is for?

It is when you just drive along in auto and deside that you want to shift your self using the paddles and after a while you don't want to do that anymore you hold in the OFF paddle to go back to auto if you can't wait for the car to do it self.

Very much doubt it as there would need to be some mechanical switch physically move the gear stick from manual to drive.

I have DSG in my Blue GT - and Martins explanation is correct! You don't have to move the stick from auto to manual when using the paddles

Martin is bang on. You can shift manually in Auto or sport mode, overriding the automatic gear selection. If you do, it switches off automatic gear changes for 10 seconds or so of inactivity, or if you hit the limiter. If you want it to switch back to an auto mode earlier just hold the right paddle for a couple of seconds.

I use it quite a lot to overide if approaching a hill or if I want to kick down a gear to overtake something. It's a bloody good system imho.

Is that all it is then the 'over-ride', already use that, I thought it might have been for something else.
