1.4 TSi - how do you remove air filter?

looking to swap mine for a K&N model, but can't work out how to open the filter box.

Anyone know what the little hose labeled as number 14 on that diagram is? Not the water drain, the other one.

Let me know if the K&N makes a difference, how much have you paid?

Apart from the power gains being dubious at best which is illustrated in ciclo's video above. If it's an old school "oiled cotton" filer which many of the K&N filters are, the oil from the filter can find it's way onto the airflow meter contaminating it degrading it's performance. Even high performance cars like Porsche, that make 300bhp+ use paper elements without issue.

Is it being swapped for a panel filter or induction kit? Only thing really swapping it for is a panel filter/ direct replacement filter. And thats only due to the fact they generally dont need changing as often. Induction kits make no difference on most cars.
