Hi
I'm sure this has been asked before so sorry for repeating the question but how many litres of oil will I need for a full oil change on a 1.2 TSI?
Any oil recommendations ?
Ta
Robert

Re: Polo 6r 1.2TSI Oil Change
I believe that the oil capacity (to include filter change) is 3.6 litres for engines manufactured up to May 2011, increased to 3.9 litres for engines manufactured from that date onwards.
The difference between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick is 0.5 litres, so perhaps add 3.5 litres, allow to settle and then top up as necessary.
Do not overfill, or you risk damaging the catalyser.
Volkswagen recommend that the sump plug and its captive washer are renewed rather than re-used; the recommended tightening torque is 30Nm.
Tip: when removing the oil filter, loosen it slightly (0.25 - 0.50 turns) and leave for a few minutes. This allows the oil contained in the filter to drain back into the sump. Even so, a sensible precaution is to cover the alternator with a pad of cloth (eg a folded towel).

Re: Polo 6r 1.2TSI Oil Change
That's a cracking tip. I've been thinking about doing mine and was wondering what happens to all the oil in the filter when you loosen it. I imagined myself trying to mop-up a filters worth, with it being inverted and mounted on top.Malcolm Scott wrote: Tip: when removing the oil filter, loosen it slightly (0.25 - 0.50 turns) and leave for a few minutes.
