15" or 16" - please advise...

Post by Golfather »

Here's the thing...

in a week i'll have a 60mm Spax Top Adjustable Kit....great! :D

i've still not acquired any wheels and need to know the following... :?

Should I expect arch contact with 7.5 x 16 wheels, after lowering 60mm?

I need to decide whether to get 15s or 16s before the suspension is fitted.

Advice appreciated

depends on your tyre profile mate....

i had 16'son 45 profiles with a 60mm drop, and they scrubbed like a b***h at first, but when the arch liners etc were removed there wasnt any scrubbage....

but if you get 40 prfoiles you wont get any problems at all....

Guys, things are getting desperate....

7x16s with 195/45/16.........

- will the tyres rub after lowering the car 60mm?
- am i worrying for no reason?
- perhaps it's time for the finger to be removed

you've got to prevent me from buying 15s  !!

hmmm, that's going to be darn close - I'd say don't buy 16's mate.

I have 195 x 45 x 15's and they're 7 inches wide. They're very close after 60mm of drop.

you've got another 1/2 inch to worry about - seriously close to the arch mate. I think you'll have trouble. only at the front though. get 40's on the front :)

It's an expensive tyre m'man not to the mention the jaw-judderring sensation the missus will encounter every time she's out.....

hence being adamant on 45 profile....it would appear that the best way forward is to lower by 40-45mm and don 16s for effect and ride quality.

Kahns look phat btw

well.....

i had 16x7.5" on 45 profiles..... on a 60mm drop....

at first it scrubbed like a royal b***h.... changed the bumpers, and removed the s**t and it was a whole lot better.... but still alil it of scrubbage.....

you might be alright.....but might not.....

so do it....and if you get probs, take the s**t out and see how it is..... if not then u'll have to get the arches rolled.....

if you drop it 40mm you WILL be dissapointed!!! i did, and hated it....dropped it 60, and still wasnt happy!!

15's are the easy option....

but depends what look you want to go for!
