Hi guys,
I am about to buy a set of polo 6R GTI suspensions with coils on it. But i am not sure if this will fit on my 1.6 TDI.
The main purpose to fit the suspensions under my car is to lower it for 10cm and to have a more sporty ride.
But I have read some stories that the front of the car will not go lower but even higher with the GTI suspensions is that possible?
And that the front of a 1.6 TDI is more heavy than a GTI and that it has thicker coils.
Currently I have a set of GTI coils in my possession but since I have read the stories I am not sure these will fit the purpose.
So now I am able to buy a complete set with suspension and coils of a GTI, and I guess I will sell the current coils.
But are the suspensions of a GTI different than my TDI? Isn't it all about the coils only? Also the colors on the coils should tell allot but I could not find any info about them. My front coils have 2x white and 2x blue on them. The GTI coils in my possesion have 5x blue 1x green. The coils of the set which I am about to buy have 4x blue 2x green.
Finally I would like to know what is the best solution:
Full GTI set (suspension and coils) under 1.6 TDI
Only replace the coils with GTI ones
Or leave as is (which means the ride will be kinda high with 17" wheels) and less sporty...
GTI suspension + coils on 1.6 TDI. Possible?

Re: GTI suspension + coils on 1.6 TDI. Possible?
I fitted my old GTI springs (I changed mine to Eibach) to a friends 1.2 TDI, and they fitted fine. Tohey also lowered the car a nice amount although not as much as 10cm, more like 6cm I think.
I'm not sure about the engine weight differences between a 1.4 GTI twin charger, 1.2 TDI and 1.6 TDI, but I'd be surprised if it was that different.
The 1.2 TDI rides fine on the GTI springs.

Great! Thanks for you answer. I think it's just 6cm because the 1.2TDI has already lower suspension than average. But good to hear that the car was lower than original with the GTI springs.
But the complete set (springs + suspension) would off course result is a more sporty ride i guess...

It would be more sporty, yes, but you might find it a bit too much?
The 1.2 TDI rides well on he GTI springs, damping is the same, but body roll etc is also reduced due to the lowering and also the firmer springs.
I was surprised how nice it felt actually!

Re: GTI suspension + coils on 1.6 TDI. Possible?
I have had a GTI twice and i was very pleased about the suspension actually. It was nice and sporty while my 1.6 TDI is rather "spongie"
I got the springs already but getting them installed will cost me around 200 euro.
I don't want to go back and do it all over again and waste another 200 euro's.
I can get the GTI "kit" for 120 euro with only 30K km's used. And I will try to sell the springs I already have.
But great news to hear that there are experiences with GTI springs on TDI's...
I guess the GTI and TDI springs are the same thickness then? Only GTI springs are a bit shorter...

Great! how does it feel to drive compare to the original suspension?
Re: GTI suspension + coils on 1.6 TDI. Possible?
Original suspension was a bit spongy and in my opinion a bit too soft. This one is way more sporty car feels and drives like my previous Polo 6r GTIh110102 wrote:Great! how does it feel to drive compare to the original suspension?
