Heard of a few folk who have asked VW not to touch the car when it arrives off the transporter at the dealership, and got a detailer that they trust to prep the car prior to them collecting it.

Yeah I'm tempted as have own DA polisher and the like. Are the cars covered in anything other than the white plastic they come in, eg wax or something does anyone know

Oh it could be anything, it's such a gamble. I got my stage 5 on 10/02/15 and my stage 6 last weds 04/03/15 and should hopefully reach the dealer sometime this week.

Yes agreed mate.

Normally, I would ask them to leave it, but this car was outside of the showroom already washed when we agreed to buy.
It looked OK. Then when we collected it had a slight layer of dust on it, so the dents werent noticeable.

However, on washing and looking closer, its a pain in the butt!

Gonna call them this morning to see what they say.....

OK, got to hand it to Specialist Cars VW Aberdeen, couldnt have been more helpful!

Theyve offered either a respray or replacement with a bonnet off another brand new GTI which they are going to use as a demo from next week.

Weve decided to take the bonnet swap, so it goes in next week to get swapped over.

Hopefully that will be an end to it!

Will let you know how we get on.

Incidently, ours has now done 150 miles and is averaging 32mpg. It dips to around 26 when cold (round town) and has been up at an average 41mpg on A roads averaging 60mph.
