new polo gti seats

Post by boj27 »

Thinking of ordering a new polo gti, cant decide on which seats to get....the alacantara or the cloth ones....i like the iconic feel of the cloth but the feel of the alacantara is quite nice..

at the side of the seats on the alacantara, there are some plastic/leather bits, does anyone know if these are plastic or leather? Has anyone had experience with alacantara seats? i know they are quite rare in the 6r's. how are they to clean?

Thanks.

Down to personal taste, I guess. I stuck with the original plaid cloth on the Mk6 Golf GTI I had about 5 years ago and regretted it. I thought it would be a nice throwback to the original 1970s GTI seats, but friends took the pi$$ because they said it looked chavvy. Problem is the Alcantara costs a fortune.

I have the Alcantara seats in my Blue GT. The leather parts are not real leather but imitation leather. Easy to clean with a not to wet cloth.....

The "leather" seats also is the same seats as you can get in any Polo. The GTI seats have bigger sides and longer leg support.

I would go for the GTI Jacky (that is the name of the plaid cloth) seats.

...except in France where - unfortunate coincidence?? - 'Jacky' means chav :D VW France changed the name of the seats here, but I can't recall what they call them.

Well I'm looking forward to my chavtastic seats in my new GTI in around 3 weeks time.
If VW did full leather for the Polo then I would have had that and no mistake but I guess they don't think that there would be a market for it down to cost , who knows why.

I think the correct VW name for it is "Interlagos".

As an aside, I would happily swap my BlueGT seats for the GTI pattern, I think it looks fantastic. Never heard anyone call them chavvy before, but had lots of compliment son them in my old GTIs. Maybe people think they look like Burberry check?

Interlagos was the tartan in the Mk5 Golf GTI.

Jacara is the current tartan in the Polo GTI & Mk7 Golf GTI.

The iconic tartan GTI seats on the Polo has better supports than the optional alcantara or heated seats

But having heated seats doesn't alter the seats.

Well I wouldn't of thought so.
