Appconnect
Hi. I am new to this forum as I am currently considering buying a new Polo. I have been considering one for a couple of months and have been advised that there is a price rise coming into effect on Monday across the range. It also appears that Appconnect will be an option which appears to bring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity according to VW. Can anyone confirm this or know what other changes there may be?

Re: Appconnect
I've read that Car-Net App-Connect will be available as an option from week 22 (May 25th). Nothing more than that - waiting to hear back from VW UK for more details.

Re: Appconnect
VW UK have got back to me but with no new information. They said it's a new feature that they have very limited details on at present.
I do know that it runs on the new MIB-II headunit that the 6C Polo has. So theoretically App Connect should be able to be a software update added by a dealer, as presently MirrorLink is.

I asked them again if it will be a dealer software update & they said they don't know at present
VW announced this ages ago at CES so they really should know the details by now...

Re: Appconnect
If it's anything like getting the information for mirrorlink it'll be like trying to get blood from a stone. Seriously can't believe an organisation like VW can't just issue a statement to all dealers saying when it'll be launched and if it will be able to be retro fittted to cars that already run mirrorlink.

Re: Appconnect
Reading through this official VW statement on all forthcoming appy things, I couldn't help wonder if any of it is actually of any use. I played with the BlueTrainer on my Polo for literally 2 days after I got the car, but now never use it.

The "Sound Journey, that makes the car a musical instrument" sounds particularly stupid, but maybe I'm just getting old

Re: Appconnect
Yes I think you're right and most apps won't be useful. I'm just interested in Apple CarPlay compatibility which might be nice to use and an easier way to interact with some iPhone features on the move.
