Having now ordered a polo gti, I've already started thinking of things I would like to add to it and thought that I've always wanted to lower a car (don't know much about it) would it be possible to fit the polo 6r lowering springs from eibach which apparently don't void your warranty? Or is the suspension set up different. Also will having the sports pack with the mechanical dampers effect lowering?
Thanks in advance

Re: Polo gti 6c lowering
Don't know about not voiding the waranty but it might void your insurance. A few years ago a friend had an insurance claim rejected as he hadn't declared that his car had been lowered. For a time it was touch and go whether or not he would be prosecuted for having no insurance. Eventually the police lost interest. Showing caution I approached my insurance company to discuss my own modifications. I was told that I would have to provide, at my own expence an engineers report and even if it was positive my insurance cover would be restricted and the excess increased, at that stage I had been with the company for 35 years without claim or conviction. Eventually I discovered that the manufacturer had homologated shorter re-rated springs for production car racing so I was able to state that the car met the manufacturers specification and the problem went away.
I'm not suggesting that you abandon your plans merely advising caution and the avoidance of steep driveways or sleeping policemen that can cause severe vehicle damage which may not be covered by insurance.
Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy your new car, lowered or not.

Any hassle around modifications and insurance is easily solved by declaring them to your insurer.
If your insurer, as per the post above wants you to jump through hoops about it, get rid of them and go to one who handles modifications in an adult manner.
Admiral do modifications nowadays, and with next to no premium increase in my experience. I've got a remap and lowered suspension on my car, both declared, extra £25 per annum... Obviously, every individual is a different risk, but it's worth doing properly.
On the 6C lowering subject, 6R springs will fit, but I'm not sure whether that is still the case for the versions with mechanical damper adjustment.
If you check over on the Golf forums where the GTI has had adjustable dampers for a while (DCC/ACC), folks have fitted standard lowering springs on them without issue. Having said that, some of the lowering spring companies list separate products for the same car dependent on whether it has DCC or ACC fitted, or standard dampers.

Re: Polo gti 6c lowering
After reading the posts an having a proper think about it, think I will leave it for the first year as that's the free insurance through volkswagen who don't allow for any modifications. Will start looking at prices for springs or coilovers ready for the shows next year!
Thanks guys!
