Centre console light

Post by chrispy. »

Anyone know how to change the centre console light? The one in the storage section infront of the gear stick/ under the radio?

Ive just changed my footwell lights to chavvy blue and the standard red is clashing [emoji23]

it's a part of the clamping sleeve for the cigarette lighter unit. You will find the bulb integrated in the clamping sleeve when removed from the console

Prefer Blue :)

Ahh ok so if I remove the cigarette light unit, the bulb will come out with it..

Anyone got any instructions on how to remove?

Has anyone actually changed this bulb? I never knew there was a light there as of course you can't see the light panel when it situ and mine is not working. I only found out there was one there when I bought a spare centre console. Have looked at the instructions in the link below as there looks to be two sets of prongs inside the cigarette lighter socket.

As to the original post it wouldn't be possible to change the colour lighting as the light panel is not clear with a coloured bulb-the panel is red with I guess a standard white/yellow bulb. But in the link it does say some had normal bulbs and some had led ones. I think when led's are used even with a red lens you still have to use a red led, as a white one lights up more like pink?

Mine’s not working either and hasn’t been for a couple of years. I tried removing the 12v socket to gain access to the ‘dead’ bulb, but couldn’t remove it!

I’m planning on changing my car sometime in the next 12 months, so will leave it for the next owner to sort out 🙂. I’ve managed without it working for a while so it doesn’t bother me that it’s not working.

I'm not sure if the other centre consoles are different from what I have in my car and the spares (one spare has the USB socket and the others don't). It says this in the link above about the bulbs: "Retaining sleeves with a light bulb are available in different versions. On the one version, the light bulb can be replaced separately; on the other version, the light bulb cannot be replaced separately. In this case, the bulb carrier has to be replaced together with the light bulb."
