How much oil between the hatchings? (GTI)

Quick question - does anyone have a reasonably accurate idea of how much oil indicates on the dipstick for a 6R GTI?

For example, if your dipstick is showing oil covering half over the hatchings area how much would be needed to top up, half a litre? If 3/4 of the hatchings is covered then would this be 1/4 of a litre needed to top up etc.?

The gap between minimum and maximum on the dipstick is always 1 litre of oil. :)
