9n3 brakes squeaking

Post by lak »

So I've been getting some squeaking going on with my brakes. Checked it out with a garage and they've said brakes/pads are fine, just need to replace the bushes soon as they're getting knackered. (roll bar bushes I think).

Squeaks when its wet weather. Was making a grinding noise before but then that subsides later on. Braking action is ok and I have experienced some slack in the pressure on some days. Usually its fine. I've uploaded some pictures if you can help. Picture quality isn't the best.

Doesn't look like dust in between pads and discs. Pads and discs are around 12-18 months old.

How do,

Squeaky brake can occur from a number of different reasons,

are they squeaking whilst driving or whilst braking? I have an annoying squeak but only when I am pressing on the brakes.
The other thing is, is the front discs or rears drums/discs?

Couple of reasons below -

1-Moisture can collect on the brake and in turn can cause rust to form on them. When you start your car and drive along the brake pads basically chip this off making a grinding noise for the first few moments of driving and braking, the rust parts that have come off can get stuck in your pads giving you the squeak you maybe experiencing.

2-It could be down to the make of your pads, depending on what content of metal they have. Some have more than others.

3-It could be something stuck between your pad and disc brakes too, but if the sounds isn't extremely loud and high pitched probably not.
Hope that helps a little.
