Aux?

Post by silver9n3 »

Hi all,

Got my first car/polo recently, and it's the E model so has a basic headunit but no aux input.

Does anybody know if one can be fitted, and if so how?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

You could change the head unit completely giving you an aux?

And the addition of more options for future upgrades if you wanted them?

I did consider that but I think it would look awful as the current unit looks perfect and suited to the dash.

Also, it would cost a fair bit for a new head unit.

Would like to just get a little aux port or lead put in if at all possible!

Cheers.

Vw did sell an option to allow an ipod to be fitted, but that was expensive last time I checked.

To be fair you can get some decent cheap single din units, this would allow you to buy a little cubby box which would go underneath the single din unit so you can put stuff in it as well.

Plus newer head units will give you the playback of loads of formats bluetooth and usb inputs as well as your aux and additional outputs.

All depends on budget really.

Depends how much were you looking to spend really bud!

I love everything about the current headunit, the finish, the styling, the backlighting and just everything about it really, except it has no aux input.

Just wondering if an aux lead could be fitted and I could drill through and have the lead coming out or something similar.

Cheers!

Thats one option - theres an AUX version of the same if you dont want to be able to control the iPod/iPhone from the radio.

That's all I'd need mate, literally just an aux to play music from to go in the current headunit.

What would I do with that?

Apologies for the dark photo haha, it's the standard 2005 9n3 E one.

Wouldn't this just slot in the headunit?

How would the one you linked attach?

Cheers!

That one is for the later polos so you can snap an aux socket into the dashboard, and you also need a head unit that has an AUX function

The one I linked makes the radio think you have a CD changer, which ultimately tricks it and allows you to have an AUX input :)

Itll just plug into the quadlock on the back of the radio, then hide the wires behind the dash, and make a hole to allow the 3.5mm cable to come through either in the dash, glovebox etc.

Ah I get it, sounds perfect thanks a lot man!

So everything will be hidden with just a little hole for the aux?

Thanks again
