Got a 2000 Polo 6n2 1.4 8v
The engine seems to be running a bit odd, its very loud, sounds like a proper diesel and i dont think its putting out as much power as it should,
it was like this since i bought it but i always left it as a few people told me its quite typical for these mpi 8valvers to sound like that, but now its getting on my nerves a little bit.
I read online and some people said the pistons are slapping? and also it could need new tappets?? I havent tried the engine flush which should quiet down the tappets?
Just some advice needed on what it could be and if there is anything serious i need to worry about?
Cheers in advance

Re: 6n2 Engine advice!
The tappets can be quite noisy, but thats normally only on the 16V blocks and not the 8V versions
Give it an oil change with some 10W40 - its possible it has a 5W40 or 5W30 syntehtic oil in which will make the engine louder
Engine flush, an oil change, and some Wynns Hydraulic Valve Lifter Treatment should quieten it down a treat
