The puddle light mod is a cool one, especially if you do it with OEM VW parts. Definitely not the easiest mod but the result will be awesome. Good luck with it!

Your vcds cable is not communicating properly, try with a different vcds cable.

I recommend you the following kits (plug and play):
7P6035730 (M,N,P) Software 4217 HW: 15
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-k ... id884.html
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-k ... id885.html
http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-k ... id886.html
The three Kits are the same because the software and the hardware are the same, choose the one you like best.

...previously

first steps...

Wiring scheme
Easy: footwell light --> wall --> driver door...
Image

I rescue the following images of the system installation of folding mirrors (non oem) for better understanding. (for RHD mirror images  )

Image Image

The hardest part will be fit the light and the connector (waterproof) into the mirror housing.
Image

The available space is limited ... but possible 8)

Thank you very much peter_dk25, definitely I go to need a lot of luck. Image

I'll have to decide how to modify the puddle lamp, or by cutting the housing, or take apart the LED light with glass from housing.
Image

I prefer cutting the housing and then waterproofed with a flat piece of plastic on top, I think it will be easier.

Ciclo, I think that it'll be a lot easier if you put the light at the bottom of the door... At least I was thinking that way

Something like this:

I know this is not as OEM as your idea...

Hola Guillermo,

It is another possibility that I was very close to install them, but finally I decided against it. It's good because you also have warning lights with those lamps.
- Golf VI (like your pic)
- Polo 9N3 (like thealbert's lamps) http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... 54#p488226
In both cases it also is necessary to modify the lamps.

Anyway I prefer lateral illumination when I approach to the car, not when I get out of car, and especially the challenge of installing these lights
in the mirrors POLO 6R.

And think about this ...
mirror housing = 30 €
panel door= 150-300 €
I prefer a difficult installation.

I've got the LED lamps from a Golf 6 (as I've recall it but can't remember). Anyway - I've decided to take them apart.

Image

Installing then in the side mirrors - cutting a hole to make them fit and then with a lot of silicone make it waterproof. I've think I've would go for that..

Another solution could be:

This image was found on a Danish Facebook group for Polo 6R/6C. I have just borrowed it.

See the small diodes in the bottom - there is 5 of them (but only 4 is visible in the photo)

Thanks for the image of puddle lights dismantled, I will have to be careful when cutting puddle lights CC.

There are other possibilities:
- Golf VII. (see description) http://www.aliexpress.com/item/OEM-side ... 53775.html
- And a good friend told me that puddle lights Porsche Panamera are also very small, but I do not find images of them online. :(

Excellent Peter 8) , in this way it is easier to understand what I intend to do. It's a good tutorial.
The problem is that the only part that I want to cut is the hole for the light, I do not want to cut the internal structure, as in this image...

Image

... and this is the real challenge.
I'll try to give a solution for this, most likely it is the lamp take the brunt in terms of cuts. :)

(my thanks to smilebrain for publishing of these images so detailed)

Hi Ciclo,

Would it be possible to retrofit the rear view mirrors that come with the new Octavia? Their shape is the same as the Polos:

Image
Image

The Polos we get in India don't have the integrated blinkers or even the auto-fold function, so a retrofit would be hitting 3 birds with one stone.
