Question on 2nd Service for wife's Blue GT

Post by Norbreck21a »

Quick question if I may.

Following the 2nd annual service yesterday of the Wife's Polo Blue GT, (on which like mine, she has a 3 year VW service contract), it was pretty uneventful with everything fine, except that when we got the car back and I had a look at the little wallet with the service info they put on the front seat, under the vehicle check-list sheet I noticed there was a comment for "Air Con service" at around £65 ?

Is this normal to have the air con serviced (I guess re-gassed) at around 2 years, and is this not something that the service pack should cover ?

The air con itself is absolutely fine, ice cold and no smells at all.

An Air Con is never 100% sealed... So at some point it will need to be re-gassed. I had mine in for a 2 year / 60-000 km service recently too. But the air con service is as far as I know never part of a regular servicing.

No its not part of the service pack, but your local garage can probably do it for £40 as opposed to £65

Depends if the air con is still icy cold or not whether it needs doing

I think the problem is more that they did the AC Service without Consulting Norbreck first...

I read it as though they were implying it should have an air con service...

Yes sorry, just to be clear, the work wasn't actually carried out, it was an advisory on the documentation when we got the car back.

Haha reading this I thought the dealer had done the recharge without permission and I was livid. Makes much more sense now!!

One had a dealer charge me for new spark plugs on my old Rover 25. Unfortunately for them it was a diesel
