Any one else got fogged up headlights?

Post by Doc_House »

Noticed after Friday's down pours, both headlights were fogged up quite badly with only the area around the main dipped beams clear. I've checked all the seals and caps and they're all intact. Just wondered if there is something else or if it was just because the of the weather.

It's most likely just because of the weather...

Extract from the manual :-

In cool or damp weather, the interior of the headlights, rear lights and turn signals may mist up briefly.
This is normal and does not affect the service life of the lights on your vehicle.

I think they have a breather hole/pipe as part of the design which helps dispel the condensation, this means they may well mist up but will clear soon afterwards.

I've had this problem on BMWs and Jaguars in the past (but not my Polo so far...). The vent holes occasionally allow moisture into the housing, but they are designed to clear/vent as soon as you take the car out again.
