Re: 6R GTI Battery
Just stick your registration number into Eurocarparts. They will list the appropriate batteries for your Polo, ranging from cheapies to ones carrying 3 or 5 year guarantee. Chance are the one in the car will have the Ah rating on it anyway to use as a guide.

Thanks for the replies guys, I just wanted to know the battery type/size/ampage to save removing the wheel bracket etc. to access the battery as ideally, I'd like to source a decent one on line and fit it myself.

Thanks all, ended up getting a genuine WV one as it worked out the same price as an equivalent after market one

Re: 6R GTI Battery
well you do know that VW themselves do not make batteries but it's probably a Varta or another A-Brand with a VW sticker?
nontheless a VW branded battery is always good.
Re: 6R GTI Battery
Yes, I'm aware of that iichel, its a VW branded Exide. The original one that came off the car was VW branded Varta!
Re: 6R GTI Battery
Did the old battery fail Dave? A little surprised as your car is a 2012, would have expected it to last much longer.
Re: 6R GTI Battery
I know, I was surprised too, though my car had only covered 9000 miles in the three years before I bought it so I'm guessing it spent a lot of time sitting round. I put the battery on my motorbike optimate charger and it seems to have recovered a full charge! I guess it will make a decent backup!

Yes indeed, probably just needed a good charge, but yes, maybe the battery had taken a bit of a hammering initially with shorter journeys etc.daveb73 wrote:I know, I was surprised too, though my car had only covered 9000 miles in the three years before I bought it so I'm guessing it spent a lot of time sitting round.
