Exhaust options

Post by Mayhem »

Right there's not many options out there for the 1.2 tsi. Iv looked at the 1.4 tsi exhaust options and apart from the tailpipe ends being different the pipework looks the same shape, is this correct? And if so what's stopping me bolting on say a cobra system designed for the 1.4 onto my 1.2 tsi?

I've got a 1.4TSI, I stayed away from pre manufactured exhausts like miltek and cobra.
I managed to get a custom full stainless exhaust for cheaper than either of the two.
Just find a good company to do it for you!

I'm not sure where you're located but cobra will manufacture exhaust systems specific to your car if you can get to them, I had one on my old corsa, dropped it off at about 9, walked around Meadowhall for 5 hours :( and then walked back to collect it, they're in Sheffield by the way, though I imagine you've already worked that out :D

Ring them for an accurate quote, but I imagine it'll be the same as the 1.4tsi, they'll make one bespoke for your car and fitting is included in the price so free basically. You can choose from loads of tail pipes which they have displayed in their showroom

Just been quoted £535 for a cat back system from Exhausts Uk in sheffield. Think i would sooner put that amount of money into a remap

Staffordshire. Just seen this video. From description that's a GTI Cobra exhaust fitted to a 1.2 Tsi

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=u4_zJ4CiNm4

So I'm guessing the shape of exhaust pipe etc is the same on the 1.4 and 1.2 it's just tailpipes that differ. So in theory I can just get a cobra GTI exhaust and fit that for a lot less money?
