Hi just about to buy a Polo Gti and I am wondering if a set of wheels 17 x 8 et 47 stud pattern 5 x 112 fit the Polo that's lowered 40mm without arch work.

No. You need to be around ET35 for 8 inch wide wheels to fit the Polo. And the Polo also has the 5x100 stud pattern.
