I bought my Polo new last September and my year's free insurance is about to run out so I'm after quotes. I am being asked if it has an alarm. I didn't specify one as an extra but would it have come with one as standard?

Does my Polo have an alarm?

Yup, SEL has alarm/immobiliser with interior protection. If you look on the inside of drivers side door pillar there's a little switch that lets you turn off the interior function. (It's in the owners manual, page 40 odd iirc)

Re: Does my Polo have an alarm?
Yeah I think most Vdub alarms have been Thatcham Class 1 since around 2000ish
I found this site. It has more detail.
http://www.thatchamfitters.co.uk/car/ca ... swagen.htm
"Volkswagen fit as standard a Thatcham category 2 immobiliser or category 1 alarm to nearly all new cars built for the UK market. Privately imported car models or older cars will have no Thatcham approved security at all so your insurance company may ask for an aftermarket alarm or immobiliser to be fitted."

You're welcome. I didn't realise you could get the 1.2Tsi in auto.
