** 1.4 6n2 polo gearbox

I was on my way back from shopping and I pulled over to speak to someone then when I went to pull away I heard my car making a horrible clunking noise coming from the engine my car has lost a lot of power as well and you can feel the car juddering when trying to drive I thought it was the oil so I checked the oil and replaced it and it wasn't that some people have told ,me it's the gear box and thrush bearing and clutch plate but was wondering what else it may be or if anyone knows what it is??

Could well be the clutch release bearing. does the noise go with the clutch depressed?
