Windscreen Replacement

Post by Guest »

Hi,
Recently picked up a small chip the windscreen of my 2015 6C GTI. The chip is about 3/4 of the way up and in front of where the passenger sits. It is only a 2-3 mm wide (if that!). I had it repaired by National Windscreens in the week but it still not quite right - it really bugs me as the car is otherwise perfect and I am extremely fussy!

So I was wondering about getting a replacement windscreen but was worried that getting a new one could create more problems (eg damaging the paint by putting a new one in, or making a leak).

So has anyone on here had a windscreen replaced on their 6R/6C and what kind of job was made of it? I presume that a GTI windscreen would be no different to any other 6R/6C screen.... Surely a universal part?
Cheers

I think that the OP's concern is more about how the old windscreen is removed and the new one fitted, just consider this, windscreen fitters do not really care if they damage the body paintwork while doing this work - the owner will a few years later when rust starts to appear around the windscreen, then the is the issue with potential leaks around the bonded seam!
