Bit of an update.
I've started working up in Scotland so i'm considering trading the car in for a diesel. Mk6 Golf GTD or something
but for now I've put the Monzas back on and put the rear seats back in.
The false floor and strut brace are for sale if anyone is interested.
Hopefully in December I'll be returning the car to standard so watch out for other things coming up for sale (Coilovers, wheels, brakes, intake, exhaust etc.)

Well I've had a good hard think about my car...
Final decision is to keep it and get a diesel daily for running up and down to Scotland!
So with this... I celebrated with buying a new set of wheels (as you do)
Saw a set of RH AH Cups for sale on eBay and thought why not. They're in need of a refurb but I'll do this in December with all my time off work
So plans now are to tidy the car up and find a unit somewhere to keep it while I'm away
Pics to follow soon!

A guy were I used to work had a TVR Chimera and a big BMW bike for fun/summer, a 4WD BMW 3 Series for longer trips, and to run back and forth to work which was about 45 miles each way per day he bought new, a Fiat Grande Punto Diesel - which runs for ever, cost very little new and is just a work tool. Maybe look out for a used one of them as the older Passat while being extremely comfortable does tend to end up with costly suspension troubles. Probably depends on how far your daily journey is though?

Edit:- I was wrong there, I think that it is the next car up from the Punto Grande.(don't know Fiats very well!)

I'd rather just buy an older car that I can run into the ground. Plus I know the PD130 engine in the Passat really well so any problems I can sort myself.
In terms of mileage.... I drive 260miles up to Scotland and then home of course and I'll do that every other weekend. Then there's the commute from the digs to work... So it all adds up haha

So it's been a while, got a few updates.
First of all I've installed Red LED footwell lights. Wired them in so they come on with my headlights and I've added a switch so I can turn them off if I get sick of them. (I'll upload an interior pic once I get a good one)

Also got myself some Rota Grids. Couldn't say no!!

Next up, I went for a ride to OCD to price up bags potentially. Really great set of guys! Anyway I asked for some GTI tartan and left with a load of material for £40!! So the plan was to retrim the Corbeau seats and possibly other areas.
Here's the finished product

Comments welcome! I'll get some more pics when I put them back in

Have you read this thread regarding the 1.4 tsi 180?

Some good info about misfire etc.
But also disturbing info about cracked pistons, Oil use etc.

So next step is to get the bumper sprayed, which a mate of mine is doing for me. Then I'll get the brakes fitted when I next take it for a service at Autotechnica

Update time, Brakes are fitted! feel really nice and seem to be able to handle a bit of heat. No pics of them fitted though but I'll get some
I've dropped the bumper off at the painters so should be ready by the weekend.
Finally, I've modified my false floor that covers where the rear seats were so that the harness straps run through it.
I Test fitted the Harnesses but i need to fab up a couple of bits so i can bolt the lap straps in the correct place.
