Retro fit convenience pack?

Post by Mikeyander5on »

Collecting a pre spec gti on Monday, my question, is it possible for vw to fit the convenience pack? And also with the convenience pack I've heard the windscreen may need to be changed can anyone offer any insight

Thanks

According to VW.CO.UK:
Convenience pack, including automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, rain sensor and electrically foldable door mirrors headlights on with coming/leaving home lighting function, separate daytime running lights and a rain sensor

foldable mirrors: yes, not so hard. just a lot of work (new mirrors, new window motors front and the switch)
light sensor: a bit harder, it's do-able with the current windshield but you have to attack it with sanding paper. nicest way is a new windshield.

auto dimming mirror and rain sensor comes with the light sensor. ch/lh might require some coding. seprerate DRLs may require different fog light units. unless you already have xenons but don't know much about your current car

Thanks iichel! The car at the moment does not have xenons however these were on my mind to fit. The foldable mirrors seem ok to do seen a few videos now. Is the light sensor and coding needed for the coming home lights. My idea is to get the foldable mirrors and coming home lights. But if the mirror and the rain sensors come with the light sensor I may as well get it all fitted.

If it's a 6c GTI then it'll have LED lights, no? Seems like xenons would be redundant.
