Removing chrome trim

Post by chrispy. »

Thinking of blacking the front end of my car.. In time I will get a GTI Grille and gloss black it.
But in the mean time, i wanted to remove the chrome trim on the lower grille then gloss black the lot.

Is it just pull it off? Or is it more meticulous than that? :)

Thanks!

why not buy a plastic grill without the chrome, then paint it make your life a bit easier plus the paint will stick better to the plastic and you can always go back to the standard grill when selling

Probably would be easier but with the grilles going for £70 at the moment, and then however much the lower grille is, might be a bit of a waste of money.

Might look into priming the chrome, then painting over it.

a second hand trendline or comfortline lower grill shouldn't be too expensive
