Just a couple of questions

Can the front sensors on the parking pack be turned off fully so that only the rear sensor and camera come on when you put the car in reverse. I don't think I would actually want the front sensor to be beeping.
Does the camera pick up the side of the car too? Or is this only on the other parking pack?

Obviously the CC would only be activated if I set it? Is this how it works I reach a speed limit zone say of 50 mph on the motorway do I just click set on the switch and that's it? The car stays at 50mph. When I want to speed up or slow down I just tap the brake pedal or click un set on the switch( stupid question but like I said never drove a car with CC I think Guy has already answered this but just making sure)



I have loads more questions and people may get fed up with me haha

I've got a long wait till car arrives! don't know if I can contain myself I'm getting giddy now and have at least a 3 to 4 month wait.

Fitted the steel wheels and winter tyres to the wife's GTI this afternoon. There is not much room between the front callipers and the rim even with the correct 40ET offset so beware of this with any other rim offset.
I'll try and put up a picture later.

So where's the snow?

don't think you can turn off the front sensors off not that i can see.

the rear camera can only see the back and is mounted just above the number plate

the CC is set once you reach a speed and press set then it can be altered using + - buttons on steering wheel. it will disable the CC if you touch the brake or clutch(manual only lol)

i did once get nearly caught by the CC as i slowed down and changed down to 4th then traffic had cleared and i just pressed the button which re-enables CC (CC set to 85mph) and it took off like stabbed rat

Glad it will also turn off using the coutch too

I was speaking to a lad in work who has it and he only uses the switch on the wheel to activate/deactivate
he says he feels this is the best way he has found. I think this i how I would use it too.


The camera cant be a bad buy and like has been said every new car in the next 2 years will have them on.

I have phoned the dealers and have told them I would like to add the pack.They are going to let me know if this is possible or not
Hopefully after only 5 days they will not have "locked down" the order

Well, in my 2015 GTI, if I am driving with Cruise Control set and I change gear, it may be that CC is temporarily disabled while I am changing gear. But as soon as I select another gear and bring the clutch up, the CC re-engages in the absence of any specific disengage action (brake or manual cancel).

I guess that there might be safety overrides to prevent overreving of the engine on a downchange.

At first I didn't like this behaviour but I've got used to it now. One situation might be that you have set CC because of a concern about accidentally exceeding a speed limit. However you encounter a steep hill and decide to change down a gear to save the engine labouring. Here, the automatic re-engagement of CC is beneficial.

It seems that this arrangement exists on 2015 VW Golfs as well - try entering vw clutch doesn't disable cruise control into a search engine.

I meant to mention that if you accelerate beyond the speed set by CC, when you release the accelerator your speed will gradually come back to the CC level. That can be useful for motorway overtaking. Also you can step the CC setting up/down in units of 1 mph using one pair of steering wheel buttons and in units of 5 mph using another pair. Of course you can just get to the speed you want and then activate the CC at that speed.

Re the Park Pilot sensors, the manual states that you can set different volume levels and tone pitches independently for the front and rear sensors. You can also vary the amount by which the normal infotainment volume level is lowered when the Park Pilot tones are active. I haven't tried these functions out though.

Guy can i just click the set button on steering wheel to deactivate? Or is it only the brake pedal that deactivates CC

Not heard back from the dealer yet but hopefully should not be any trouble getting the pack added.
Has anyone added things after original order if so how long after.As I've said I only ordered on Saturday and paid the deposit.

Can the manual be downloaded from anywhere I would'nt mind a read of that

I have managed to download the owners manual (more reading )
From what i can tell so far I think the CC can only be switched off by pressing swich on steering wheel ( which is what i more than likely will be doing) or by touching the brake. Thanks Guy

Automatic switch-off
The control will be switched off automatically or switched off temporarily:

If the system detects a fault that could impair the function of the CCS.
If the vehicle speed is higher than the stored speed for an extended period with the accelerator pedal depressed.
If the brake pedal is depressed.
If the clutch pedal is depressed for a relatively long time.
If you change gear on a manual gearbox.
With an automatic gearbox, when the selector lever is moved out of position D or S.
If the vehicle was braked with the City Emergency Brake function → City Emergency Brake function   .
If regulation related to the driving dynamics is taking place, e.g. by TCS and ESC.
If the airbag is triggered.

I think with our crowded roads it's rare to be able to just leave it engaged. No Route 66 here in warwicksire.
Think I enjoy my right foot on the gas and in control. I enjoy the involvement.

About 4" of snow dumped on us last night, mainly thawed now though! I fitted 15" VW alloys and winter tyres to wife's Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL - it has the ATE callipers and 288mm discs, the running clearance between rim and calliper is "minimal" - I am still checking every car I pass to see if there are any cars delivered from factory with that "minimal" clearance - so far I have not found any! I'm guessing that the current GTI has 3??mm discs - so fitting 16" even steels will provide similar "minimal" clearance!
