BlueGT

Post by VWBlueGT »

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. I have just found this site and registered this evening. I am hoping that someone out there can help me with a question I have about the new Polo BlueGT.

This week I collected my new car...a 65 plate, Mk5 (6R) BlueGT. I absolutely love it. I'm getting used to all the gadgets on it. I was wondering if anyone knows the answers to the two questions I have? I would be really grateful for any help/info you may be able to provide.

The questions:

1. I was a bit disappointed when I collected the car that it had not centre armrest (with storage), between the driver and front passenger. Does the BlueGT not come with that as standard? When I queried it, I was told it's an extra. I really would have liked that.

2. When I play my music using bluetooth with my iPhone the media display (on front, centre console) does not display the 'cover artwork'. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? The song title etc is displayed...just not 'cover artwork'.

Thank you for reading this and any help, tips, advice etc much appreciated.

The centre armrest is unfortunately a £120 option :( I know robbing sods, I paid for it!!

In regards to the artwork I'm not too sure whether it displays over Bluetooth or not, someone else will have to answer that.

Welcome to the forums and enjoy your BlueGT! :)

I can answer the artwork question to a degree. I have a new GTI and the artwork shows intermittently with blue tooth and sd card. It shows completely using an ipod with no issues. It's down to pixel size of the embedded artwork and there are programs out there that convert the artwork to the right size. I stick with my ipod.

Hi Tom,

Many thanks for your reply and confirming that. I might go back to them and ask if I am able to have one fitted at this stage, but I wonder what the cost is? They would have to add labour on and that could be expensive hmmm. Wish I had known this before.

Aside from that, I think it's the best VW I've drive. I've had three Golfs in the past including a black Golf GTI (Mk3), however this 'smaller golf' is incredibly fast and holds the road very well.

I hope you're enjoying yours as much :D Any further tips or advice much appreciated.

Cheers :)

The armrest is very easy to retrofit. I did it on the Polo 6C of my girlfriend, 10 minute job I'd say. She didn't like it though so I still have it lying around :p

Hey thanks for your message. I don't suppose you'd consider selling it to me? If, so I would be happy to buy. Feel free to private message me if you prefer. :)

I have the arm rest fitted and if it's something you have your heart set in then go for it.

I do find mine gets in the way a bit when down TBH.

I don't get album art either unless using mirror link. I listen to music through Spotify streaming.

I don't think that will work with a large item since I'm from Switzerland and shipping of a large package is expensive and may lead to toll costs at customs.
And it's mildly used, that's a shame in a new car. Have a look on ebay germany (look for Polo 6R Armlehne or Mittelarmlehne) or maybe ebay UK. They should be around 100 euros / GBP 80 for an original one new.
