See I knew skimping on extras was a smart move!
It was Mark Brayshaw, who's yours?

Ah she dealt with me when I went in to sign all the finance papers cos Mark was on holiday. Going from a 6N2 all I was bothered about was having heated seats lol

There's a 5 door silk blue always seems to be parked up at Maccy Ds at Blundell Park whenever I've been to footy recently.

Argh I got asked if I wanted to look round one but said I couldn't test drive it :( Mind you that was Richard and he left not long after I first went in.

Good things: it's a smart well screwed together little car. It goes like stink and handles pretty well. My dealership has been excellent when I needed to sort out some central locking problems. Now the car is properly run in it does feel looser and nicer to drive. I like the fact mine is a 5 door for practical reasons and the stop start is good too as I got used to this in my previous Fiesta 1 litre ecoboost.

Not so good. The condensation on start up was driving me mad. This evening I tried leaving the door open after I got in then started it up with the blowers on full to the windscreen then shut the door and well no steaming up of the windows. Either a fluke or I've hit on a solution! Also the handling is only slightly better than my previous Fiesta so goodness know how much better an ST is. I won't be on the phone to my Ford dealer a) because it would be financially silly and b) it would be the end of my marriage!

Overall the Polo gti is still a great hot hatch and I would recommend it to anyone.
I was having serious condensation issues when I first picked it up, now I'm getting none. Only thing I've changed it set the fan to windsreen/feet and I've also opened the 2 middle vents 3 notches on the dial.

I've only had mine for nearly 4 weeks now, and I'm still meh about changing from the ST. Hands down the Polo is slightly more luxurious, better built I'm not sure as the new Fiestas are really well put together regardless of what model you buy. Nothing comes close to the ST when it comes to B roads and although I haven't driven the Polo hard at all yet I don't feel it gives you the same confidence that the Ford does, your best bet would be using the extra torque to try catch the Fiesta on the straights.

It might not be financially silly to visit Ford, it all depends on what deals are on. I got my Fiesta on January 26th of last year and ordered the Polo on October 25th and I'm actually saving money.
So would you go back to a ST? I'd like to have seven days with one to properly compare. I doubt whether any dealer would allow that just to satisfy my curiosity.

The only problem now is the 5 month wait it's going to take :( .

See that people are discussing the app link thing, it was after I had pretty much done the deal I noticed that the app link was missing off my order. I questioned it and the saleswoman was puzzled why it wasn't on her print out. However I have spec'd Discovery Navigation and I swear not long ago I read you can't have both? Anyway a bloke who worked in there basically said the £100 app connect isn't worth it. So my car prob won't have it but who knows!
5 months?! That's golf R waiting times!!!

Hey all, Matt here from Northern Ireland! After much lingering through the 170+ pages on here I thought it was time to say hello! As I'm sure nearly everyone here has been torn between the GTI or the Fiesta ST. I decided to go for the GTI! A friend of mine has an ST and i know it truly is a fantastic car, I just wanted that something a little different, less common and a more comfortable everyday drive. After selling my beloved 04" Nissan 350z after owning it for two years, which i had plenty of fun in, I wanted something unabused with 0 miles which I can truly call mine! Anyway for those interested here is my spec:

Flash Red / DSG box / Armrest / Airbag deactivation switch / Light&Sight / Convenience / Winter Pack / Aircon&Climate control / Carnet app / Sport Performance Kit / Cruise&Park pack / Carbon effect mirror caps.

I know there is a few options there people would never consider or DSG haters out there but hey... (I got most of them to cure my OCD from blank buttons on the center console  )

Just placed my order this afternoon so I will find out more info next week regarding order times and build slots and all that jazz...

So yes, pleased to meet y'all and look forward to disusing GTI's! Matt..

I thought the lead times had significantly improved, surprised a 5 month wait.

Tell me about it and if only it was a Golf R!

The saleswoman who sold me the car said I'm not gonna lie to you it's going to be 5 months as there's no point me giving you false information and getting your hopes up. I think it's because mine is a 5 door and they are all built in South Africa.

Probably didnt' word that well, when I tilt them forward to get in the back they don't stay tilted so I have to hold them in place if that makes sense?

Right sorted I was being a weedy girl, just needed a bit of force to move them forward on the runners and get them to stay tilted.

Managed to get a soundbar in the Polo - did have to put one of the rear seats down though, but it's not totally impractical lol

Yeah I managed to get a boxed 48" TV in the back and still manage to drive it but that's only because I'm a short arse.

Going to stick mine on a rolling road to get a rough idea of the base power, might also see how the sport button changes the torque curve.
