RCD310 to RCD510 DAB Aerial Help!

Post by mrl 6r »

Hello all, Been searching for a while and i can't seem to find anything about changing to a dab aerial when going from a non dab 310 to a dab 510. I know you can get dab shark fin aerials but can find part numbers or where to get them, i would rather that than get the windscreen sticky dab aerials.
S if anyone has done this or knows how could you please help

thanks !

Think you need something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A8-MK2-D ... Sw5VFWJ5UJ
You will have to drop the roof liner to fit

If you have the RCD 310 installed in your car you most likely also have the Diversity antenna system. This means that you have two antennas in your car: The Arial on the roof and one antenna integrated in the rear window of your car. This one has its own amplifier installed in the rear of your car.
Using the kit from Kufatec you simply use a new amplifier which also has the possibility to connect to the DAB connection of your new RCD 510 together with the FM signal – it’s the same way that Golf, Passat etc. has an DAB antenna installed from the factory. I have it in my car (a Blue GT) and it is easy to install and gives a very strong signal. No additional antenna is required then...

Is this the one that fits in the back window edge? Ive got the same dilemma - 310 nonDAB to 510 DAB.

Is it just stick on window and plug into the radio?

No, the antenna amplifier is installed behind the read lid trim (replaces the old only FM amplifier) and connected to the rear window antenna (part of the rear window) and then to the RCD 510 DAB (new cable) and FM connections (all ready existing cable)…

Are there any guides on how to do this? and I'm taking it that this is easier to do than fit in a dab roof mount antenna ?

http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/ ... /removing/
and then you need to install the new DAB cable from the amplifier to the RCD - that's it!

As I wrote earlier you have to have the diversity antenna system in your car to make this work. The diversity system consists of two antennas: The one on the roof and the one integrated in the rear window. The easiest way to find out if you have got this is to take out your RCD and look at the back of the unit: Use Goggle (left lower corner of the unit)!

If there are two white slots located next to each other then your car will have the diversity system installed and you can use my solution (the Black one is for DAB). If not you will need a new roof Ariel with both DAB and FM

Apologies about my naivity. I understand now :)

I know my RCD has the twin FM port on the back, just need to find my amplifier :)

Thanks Peter
