Can Apple CarPlay be activated after buying the car or can it only be done by dealer? If so how?

The dealer will charge about £170 to activate it.

The module code is ordered from VW for around £100 and is tied to your unique VIN number then the dealer charges about £70 (labour) to apply the code. This is then activated via their ODIS tool.

The late 2015/2016 MIBs all come with Car Play embedded but not enabled.

Mine is currently being built and is due mid March. Will it just be a case of getting it activated them?

Your dealer will be able to activate it. Whether they know they can activate it is another matter! You may have to ring around to find one that's done the appropriate training but it really is just a code to activate it.

Tbh the dealer should have told you about the feature when you ordered it but I don't think a lot of dealers really understand the feature.
