MIB2 Retrofit - Part no. needed

Right i'm fed up with my MIB 1 unit as it has started playing up again.

i'm been scouring the net and there is a couple of threads i've found on other forums around the world where people have fitted discover pro units to golfs.

now i've always believed that the only difference between MIB1 and 2 is the box in the glove box.

i'm looking for the part number for the people with the later units with app connect but without Navigation (not sure it makes a difference tbh)

now most upgrades i've found use the 8.0" display but i'd be happy to keep the original (which should work as it has the same resolution)

one factor that may a dampener on the idea is the astronomical prices of parts lol

i currently have the a composition media but it's 3Q0035842

so i guess the 3Q0035877 is the latest version

etka has a list of all the units that look like will fit the polo

just need to find what sort of programming is required to get android auto working

unfortunately it'll be near impossible to get it working as it has to talk to VW's servers to get the license key working for the software. Only way to do it is to go via VW dealers but never say never

there is a company in Poland i think that might disagree

they are unlocking the discover pro unit which people have put into golfs

looking at the app connect thread on here it seems that my unit may be able to upgraded but there are several units with the same part number

I didn't think any Polos got MIB 1 units? There are different versions of the MIB 2 Composition Media units fitted in Polos, with them being Carplay/Android Auto compatible from some point last year (week 22?). I thought that only the Golf 7s had MIB 1 units, which have the smaller screen on the Composition Media with a bezel (like the Composition Colour unit in the Polo S, but with a proximity sensor).

I don't think the 8' screen would fit in a Polo anyway.

that's kind of what i'm looking for is the model number of units and what they can do

mine is 3q0035842 and i've got mirror link but i'd really like android auto as the google apps do work well imho
