Insurance
Hey,
I've owned my BlueGT for exactly a year now, but was wondering what sort of insurance you guys are paying.
After reading another thread, I gauged that a lot of people are around my age (20) with BlueGT's
I'm paying around £1700 a year for the pleasure, but with no prior incidents and 3 years no claims, I can't help feeling that's a bit steep.
Current insurer is Admiral
Thanks in advance!

Re: Insurance
My current is admiral, but want the same for the GTI when it arrives,
quotes from Churchill are more encouraging around 635 with 1 year no claims and 1 accident.
Cheers

Sounds a little expensive!! Where do you live? I'm in Surrey, am 22 and pay about £750 including business use on a new 6C Polo GTI with 3 years no claims and no prior convictions. I'm with diamond (same group as admiral / elephant)

Re: Insurance
I'm quoted with Admiral.
£175 per annum.
I'm 36 but this is part of a multi car insurance for my Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Fiesta Zetec. Which in total is £505.

Re: Insurance
Polo 6c GTI - £600 odd quid, 21 with 3 ncb can't imagine there being a great deal of difference between the blue GT and gti, my 1.4 corsa was more expensive!

Re: Insurance
My BGT is currently just under £900 but over £1000 due to pay monthly..
Come renewal it will be about £700-£750 approx.
I've got 3 years NCB with 4 years driving experience (21). It would be 4 years NCB but when I got my BGT, only young drivers (Zurich) wouldn't insure me until I turned 21, so I had to cancel the insurance. Hastings said as I used the two years NCB I had already earned I'll get the third in May.
My insurance would be a bit lower if I hadn't had a non fault accident in Nov 2013, insurance companies rip you off by saying you're more likely to be involved in another accident

BGT Richmond upon Thames LV £300. (No convictions, 52 years NCB, no no faults, IAM/HPC and history of silly motors). Nobody here has mentioned profession a factor that influences premiums significantly.

Is that on a driveway or parked on a road?Ricmondo wrote:BGT Richmond upon Thames LV £300. (No convictions, 52 years NCB, no no faults, IAM/HPC and history of silly motors). Nobody here has mentioned profession a factor that influences premiums significantly.
I only ask as mine is £175 at 36yrs old with 10yrs NCB for 2016 VW polo GTi at 10k per year.
I'm down as a computer manager. My wife as a musician saw that premium almost triple. If I'm listed as a computer sales person my rate doubles.

Re: Insurance
I'm one of those odd people who fill my garage with cars rather than junk so the BGT lives there. I've got a tracker too. After the VW free insurance ended quotes ranged from £250 to £1750. I went back to LV as I've been with them or their predecessor company since 1963 and they have always been accommodating in respect of modifications, extended overseas visits, driving other cars etc. They only charged me a tenner to add an AC Cobra to my MGB policy for two weeks, that was a long time ago though when such motors were fun driving rather than hard nosed investment. I'm starting to get all nostalgic now so time for Horlicks and bed. PS still too young for Horlicks!

330 for The Polo 6C 10,000 miles parked on the drive with 5 Yrs no claims for fully comp with Aviva. The bug is 150 per year on a classic car policy which is daft given how quick it goes.
