Hi guys/girls.

I just recently stumbled onto this forum.

Little bit about myself: I am from South Africa, and I'm the Vice-chairman of the VW Club of South Africa.

I also drive a Polo, but the Polo's in SA are slightly different to the ones in Europe. What we call Polo's here, is what you guys call the SEAT's. (In a way though). We have the Polo Classic (similiar to your Seat Corboda) and the Polo Playa (similiar to your Seat Ibiza and Polo MKIV).

Anyway, here are some pics of my car. The car came STD with a 1.6 8V powerplant, that I've modified into a 2.0 8V job, with LOTS of other modifications too.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, Don't normally like the booted Polo/Ibiza but yours looks fine. Like the colour and the subtle side skirts. What sort of performance/BHP/Torque do you get from your car? now that you've modded the engine.

Thanks for the welcome!

The car is making 125hp at the wheels, at altitude. This is an uncorrected figure. Keep in mind, that I am in Johannesburg, which is like 5000 feet above sea-level.

To put that in perspective, the STD 2.0 8V powerplant (in MK3 Golf GTi here) makes about 95hp at the wheels.

Yep that's impressive. You should post these pics in the members rides section and generate some more interest.

So at the flywheel you car must be pushing 150 at least, plus because it's an 8 valve you must have plenty of torque, any more plans for the car?

Thanks!

Short term plans are individual throttle bodies, and swapping my 288 degree cam for a 298 degree.

Long term, but this year still, I will be swapping the motor for a 2E bottom end, but with a 1.8 16V head, and a T3/T4 hybrid turbo setup. A mate of mine is running this setup in a Polo Playa (Ibiza) and he is pushing 341hp at the wheels, on the same dyno I did my runs. (that was with 1.3 bar boost, or 18.8psi).

Hi

Welcome to the forum!

We had a guy with a Playa on here last year... I don't know where he went (maybe do a search for "Playa" and find his posts)...

Your car looks really nice and the performance figures are great.

The colour looks similar to VW Jazz Blue.

Anyway, I hope to see you here again soon.

Thanx!

Yes, the colour is Jazz Blue Pearl. Very popular colour for VW's in sunny SA.
