This might seem a dumarsed question but the last petrol I owned was a Bedford HA van in the early 90's, and that had points, condensor and a distributer,,,, and leaf springs all round. 8)

How often are we supposed to change plugs & leads and what happens if they are left?

Plugs every 40k leads every 80k

Plugs will degrade and can damage the engine if left to the point where there is little electrode left. Leads will start to break down over time and arc causing a short
