Activating TPMS in Polo

Post by Strayion »

Hi,

I have come across a few threads on the net talking about TPMS activation through VCDS for older version of VW. I understand it is called indirect TPMS and works with ABS sensors.

Does anyone know how to do it for 2013 polo?

Thanks

I'm not sure about what exactly you have to do to your ABS system.
But one part is to activate it in your instrument cluster, simply go to modules -> 17 instruments -> coding -> long coding and check 'TPMS system installed' (not sure about the exact name but you'll see)

As per this link (http://www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/tpms- ... ds-mk6-vw/) inditect TPMS can be activated in ABS module - byte 16 - bit 2.

However my software is not showing bit descriptions for below module. Instead of description I only see bit 1, 2, etc. So I could not test it.

Address 03: ABS Brakes (J104) Labels: None
Part No SW: 6RF 907 379 A HW: 6R0 907 379 AB
Component: ABS8.2 front H03 0001
Coding: 500200C1006F00B80A2900E400D700000000

so lets first find Byte 16:
50 02 00 C1 00 6F 00 B8 0A 29 00 E4 00 D7 00 00 00 00

now the coding in HEX is 00, binary that is also 0000 0000 (we use base-8 HEX, so 8 bits in 1 Byte)
are you sure that Byte 16 bit 2 is for POLO 6R? This is very important to be sure
then 00000000 Needs to become 00000100
in HEX that is 04

New coding with Byte 16 bit 2 activated:
500200C1006F00B80A2900E400D700000400

I am not sure about it.

Can someone share scan for ABS module Part No SW: 6RF 907 379 A HW: 6R0 907 379 AB and or screenshots of relevant bits ?

I guess you found it here:
http://www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/tpms- ... ds-mk6-vw/
But that is for the Golf MK6 with the module 1K0... and that does not automatically mean it will work in 6R too.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to be sure about this. It is dangerous to incorrectly code the ABS module, since it is your electric part of the brake system!

Maybe you can open your module with VCDS and see if there are any Labels available?

Yes,
Yes,
Agreed

However I cant see labels for this module (by labels I assume you mean bit descriptions).
