V new 2 VW

Hi everyone

Have always wanted a Polo since the Mark IV and now I own one! Three door, in metallic black, standard VW alloys. All the usual trouble spots (wheel arch and door sill rust, electric window problems, boot lock etc) plus a few new ones!

Thanks for all the pointers on the above mentioned, this forum has already been the business.

Any new ideas on these challenges?
1. door hinges (I guess long doors on this model are a bit porky)
2. terrible radio reception LW and Medium Wave (cricket IS important)
3. 'air cooled' putter to old 8 valve even with new mid and back boxes

Also, on a budget, what do people recommend as a first step first mod? Is there an obvious route to take or is it just done to preferences and priorities?

Start small, then work onto the big mods.

Indicators, repeaters, tail lights, smaller arial, different grill, de-badge. de-rub strip. Main thing is lowering, makes a massive difference and people are allways too eager to make their cars look like 4x4's with new alloys.

Cheap and u get the idea.

Welcome to the forum!

Basically follow what Criz said - lights will make a massive difference to the look of the car. Then drop it 35mm and finish with some colour coding and smoothing

I read the common problems postings started by Sticky. It seems rear wheel arches are a rust prone area just in front of the tyre. I also have rust along the sill just where the passenger door shuts against it. There is join here in the sill and the rust follows the short vertical line of the join. This, I guess is a bodyshop job. Can it be put right permanently or is it as the guy from Chipsaway suggests always going to be a temporary repair only necessary just before selling?
